Operation Riptide
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive just released Operation Riptide, a hug update that features new maps, new missions, and new ways to play classic game modes. This update may be one of the biggest updated that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history.
Operation Riptide adds a new mode for matchmaking that allows for much shorter games, where players compete to win nine rounds instead of sixteen. The update is also bringing Private Matchmaking Queues for those who want to play with friends. The Deathmatch, Demolition, and Arms Race modes have all been tweaked and a string of new community maps have been added. Another notable change has been made to Dust 2, one of Counter-Strike's most iconic maps.
As shown in a tweet from the official Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Twitter account, the devs added a solid wall on the attackers' side of the infamously difficult-to-defend mid corridor. Riot shields have also been added, grenades can now be dropped like weapons, and the Grind, Mocha, Pitstop, Calavera, and Frostbite maps have been removed from official matchmaking. Counter-Strike's Desert Eagle, known for one-hit kills, now does slightly less damage on body shots, though snipers who aim for the head have nothing to worry about.
Discord is testing official YouTube integration
Discord is starting to test YouTube integration, just weeks after Google-owned YouTube forced two popular Discord music bots offline. YouTube integration has started appearing in a small number of Discord servers today as part of what appears to be a new test of a collaboration between Discord and YouTube.
The feature is called Watch Together, and as the name implies, it allows Discord members to watch YouTube videos together. A test of a similar Discord feature started 10 months ago before disappearing and resurfacing as Watch Together today, and we understand the company has re-prioritized this particular feature due to the recent music bot shutdowns.
Respawn keeps Titanfall 3 hopes alive
Respawn Entertainment, the developer of Apex Legends and the Titanfall franchise, has reignited the belief that fans just might see a third installment in the Titanfall series at some point in the future.
Just one tweet from the Respawn Twitter account gave life to the idea that the story of Titanfall hasn’t ended yet. The company reiterated that “Titanfall is the very core of our DNA,” leaving the door open for another potential game in the series by saying, “Who knows what the future holds…”
This message from Respawn doesn’t come out of nowhere, though, since the tweet references “what some folks are reporting.” It appears to be a direct response to a story first written by Dexerto, and since aggregated by other gaming outlets, in which Respawn community coordinator Jason Garza said there was “nothing in the works” for Titanfall and told fans “don’t get your hopes up.”
Call of Duty: Warzone Update Nerfs Two SMGs
According to the patch notes for Season Five Reloaded, the new update is making changes to two SMGs: the Bullfrog and the Shotgun Bravo. The Bullfrog is described as a weapon that emphasizes mobility, effective damage range, weapon handling, and base magazine capacity. The changes will include ADS speed decreased by 9%, movement speed decreased by 1%, and ADS speed movement decreased by 2%. The patch notes state that the changes, along with a recoil bug fix, will let the Bullfrog stand in the same league with its competition. The Shotgun Bravo is described with the focus on effective damage range, magazine capacity, mobility, and rate of fire. Changes to the weapon include its maximum damage range getting decreased from 4.5 to 3.5 meters, second damage range decreased from 8.1 to 5.5 meters, and third damage range decreased from 13.2 to 9.9 meters. By making these changes, the patch notes state the Shotgun Bravo will "feel more like a shotgun" instead of a sniper in Call of Duty: Warzone.
